The Family is the secretive fundamentalist Christian group with a house on C Street where conservative Christian lawmakers live and pray. The group has attempted to shield Mark Sanford and John Ensign from scrutiny. The C Street house is actually owned by a Family front group, "Youth With a Mission." YWAM is a global Christian evangelical organization founded in 1960 which, declares YWAM, is "currently operating in more than 1000 locations in over 149 countries, with a staff of nearly 16,000." There has to come a point when Wuerl (the Archbishop of Washington) realizes that he keeps contradicting himself. It wasn't terribly bright to threaten the DC City Council to begin with. Now, about all that he is accomplishing is to make himself even more irrelevant as he tries, in vain, to kill marriage equality or, in the alternative, to get the Council to sanction the church's employment discrimination. It seems that the prudes as Liberty Counsel have filed a complaint with the FCC (PDF) against ABC over the performance of Adam Lambert. In their letter, signed by Anita Staver, they use the word "homosexual" four times. The implication is that gay sexual innuendo is sufficient to warrant a complaint. Actually, the basis of the complaint is the gay suggestiveness of the act.

It seems that every irrational right wing whack job has a scam scheme these days to FedEx, fax or phone every member of congress. Usually, these things are priced at several times the cost of providing the "service." Any congressional staffer will tell you that duplicate letters, emails or faxes are treated as one. Chuck Colson is the former Nixon hatchet man turned fundamentalist Christian. Colson did some prison time for obstruction of justice. According to the PR, during his time in prison, Colson had become increasingly aware of what he saw as injustices done to prisoners and shortcomings in their rehabilitation. Given that Colson did all of seven months at the Maxwell AFB Club Fed with its tennis courts and college style dorms, about the worst injustice that he experienced was an overcooked steak. Another day — another crazy preacher. This one is Terrance Johnson of Houston's Higher Dimension Church. This rather flawed polemic appeared on Johnson's MySpace blog.
